Slachtofferoproep gijzeling Leidseplein: wie heeft er nog geen contact met de recherche gehad?

Leidseplein – * See below for the English version * Dinsdagavond 22 februari 2022 vond in de Apple Store aan het Leidseplein een urenlange gijzeling plaats. Eén slachtoffer werd door de gijzelnemer onder bedreiging van een vuurwapen vastgehouden, tientallen andere mensen zaten de hele avond opgesloten in het pand. De recherche heeft de meeste van deze slachtoffers ondertussen gesproken, maar nog niet met iedereen contact gehad. Omdat rechercheurs er zeker van willen zijn dat alle betrokkenen hun verhaal hebben kunnen doen en vooral de juiste nazorg aangeboden krijgen, doet de politie nu de oproep aan de slachtoffers die nog niet met de recherche gesproken hebben zich te melden.

De recherche is met name op zoek naar mensen die tijdens de gijzeling zo’n twee uur in de kantine van de Apple Store hebben vastgezeten. Deze slachtoffers – voornamelijk klanten van de winkel – zijn nadat zij bevrijd waren wel opgevangen door politiemensen ter plaatse, maar konden toen niet direct allemaal gehoord worden door de recherche en in contact gebracht met bijvoorbeeld Slachtofferhulp. In alle hectiek hebben agenten op dat moment niet van alle betrokkenen de gegevens kunnen noteren. Rechercheurs hebben later alsnog het merendeel van de slachtoffer gesproken en wil nu graag met de resterende slachtoffers in contact komen. Dit geldt ook voor eventuele andere betrokkenen, bijvoorbeeld mensen die direct zijn weggerend bij de Apple Store en/of eventuele getuigen uit de omliggende panden.

Het is voor de recherche vooral belangrijk dat alle slachtoffers de mogelijkheid hebben gekregen hun ervaringen te delen met de politie en ze de passende nazorg aanboden krijgen. Contact opnemen met de politie kan via 0900-8844 of het onderstaande tipformulier.

Call for victims hostage situation Leidseplein: please contact local police authorities if you haven’t been in contact with detectives

On Tuesday evening February 22 an hours-long hostage situation took place in the Apple Store at Leidseplein in the city center of Amsterdam. An armed man held one victim hostage, threatening him with a gun. Several others were locked in the building all evening. Detectives already have spoken to most of the victims, but still want to reach out all of them. They want to make sure everybody involved in the hostage situation has been able to tell their story and, above all, are offered the right aftercare. Therefor the police are now calling on those victims who have not yet spoken to the detectives to come forward.

The detectives are mainly looking for people who were trapped in the canteen of the Apple Store for about two hours during the hostage situation. These victims, most of them customers of the store,  have been taken care of by police officers on site when the hostage situation ended. However – due to the hectic situation – not all of these people were interviewed immediately by detectives. Detectives want to make sure everybody involved is able to share their experiences and is offered support and care of professionals of the Dutch Victim Support.  Detectives spoke to most of the victims later and would like to get in touch with the remaining victims now. This also applies to any other parties involved, for example people who immediately ran away from the Apple Store and/or any witnesses from the surrounding properties.
